Best time to Trek:
Feb-May & Sept-Nov.
Day 1: Arrive Paro. On arrival at Paro,
Our escort will receive you. After lunch you
will be taken to the Ta-dzong (the only museum
in Bhutan). Overnight Paro.
Day 2: Paro sightseeing. In the morning
visit Drukgyal dzong, the ruined 17th fortress,
which once defended the invading Tibetan forces
and now stands in ruins. Mt. Chomolhari soars
high behind the dzong. In the afternoon hike to
Taktsang, the Tiger's Lair. Overnight Paro.
Day 3: Paro/Jele dzong Distance - 6/7 km
Alt.8500ft First day and relatively short trek.
Day 4: Jele dzong/Jangchulakha. Distance
- 10 km Alt.9500 ft Second day trek will take
you through thick alpine forest and
rhododendrons scrubs. Yak herders can be seen.
Day 5: Jangchulakha/Jimilangtso. Distance
-11 km Alt.11000ft Quite a long trek. Camp close
by the Jimilangtso lake.
Day 6: Jimilangtso/Simkota. Distance - 11
km Alt. 11500ft
You will pass by the Janetso lake. Camp close by
the Simkota lake.
Day 7: Simkota/Phajoding. Distance - 10
km Alt. 9500 ft
On this trek you might catch a glimpse of Mt.
Gangkar Puensum, Bhutan’s highest mountain. The
trek gradually descends till the Phajoding
Cafeteria. Overnight Cafeteria. You can also
camp.
Day 8: Phajoding/Thimphu. Distance - 7/8
km Alt. 8050ft Your trek to Thimphu is through a
forest of blue pines. You will reach Thimphu in
about 3 hours. In the afternoon you could go
around the Thimphu city. Overnight Thimphu.
Day 9: Thimphu, You can stroll around the
Thimphu city, visit the Handicrafts Emporium and
the Memorial Chorten. In the afternoon visit
Tashichhodzong and take a ride to Sangaygang.
Overnight Thimphu.
Day 10: Thimphu/Paro airport. Drive to
Paro Airport for onward flight.
