By Air from Paro International Airport
Visitors must have a valid passport and an entry
visa approved before arriving in Bhutan.
Bhutan’s only international airport is located
at Paro with Druk Air as Bhutan’s only national
airline. Today Druk Air operates from Paro
seven times a week to Bangkok where five flights
goes via Kolkata and two flights through Gaya
(flights via Dhaka and Yangon are currently
suspended), thrice to Kathmandu and Delhi. Monsoons often result in
unpredictable weather due which it is advisable
for the visitor to give oneself an extra day or
two in the travel itinerary.
By road from Southern Border Towns
You could also have surface entry into Bhutan
from Phuentsholing, a border town in south-west
Bhutan. You could fly from New Delhi and Kolkota
to Bagdogra international airport. A three to
four hours drive from Bagdogra will see you in
Phuentsholing, Bhutan’s commercial artery.
Please note that either your entry or exit must
be by Air.
